How do I pick a strategy?
The strategy you choose depends very much on your individual betting profile which we think is comprised of your risk profile (high/medium/low), your bet management style (active/passive) and your knowledge of Tennis and Football markets (some/none). Wherever your betting profile lies, there is a strategy for you.
Let's run through a few strategies using the first 10 Pounces in January 2018 as an example. During this period, 8 of players/teams we recommened went on to win, and 2 of them lost. The details are summarized below.
Now let's see how different strategies would have fared over these Pounces based on a default £100.00 stake. Each strategy is tagged with the following indicators.
Risk profile:
High Risk
Medium Risk
Low Risk
Bet management style:
Active
Passive
Sport knowledge:
Some
None
Basic Strategies
High Risk
Active
None
This strategy bets on all Pounces and does not cashout any bets. When we go on a strong winning run, this strategy returns the most profit, however it is a high risk strategy given there is no bet filtering and no cashout/hedging. This strategy is good for users who are happy with higher risk in return for higher rewards, and who may be willing to actively manage their bets using our mobile app and cashout in winning positions.
Medium Risk
Passive
None
This strategy bets on all Pounces like the previous strategy, but will automatically cashout for you and take a percentage of the profit if the odds move in your favour. e.g. a Pounce is fired on a tennis player who has lost the first set. If the player comes back to win the second set, you will be able to cashout at that point and guarantee a profit regardless of the final result, rather than waiting to see who wins the third set. In this example, a cashout of 40-50% would be possible. Let's see some examples.
Standard Strategies
A Standard strategy offer two main advantages over Basic; it allows you to filter Pounces based on the PBI or odds, and allows a separate set of rules to be created for each sport.
Medium Risk
Passive
None
This strategy will only place your bets if the PBI reaches a threshold. As the PBI increases, so do the chances of winning. It is also worth bearing in mind that in many cases, Pounces with lower PBIs do win and produce higher rewards, so finding the right threshold can be tricky.
Expert Strategies
The Expert strategy provides the ultimate flexibility - it lets you vary your risk based on the Pounce. So if the PBI is high maybe you want to bet a higher stake and cashout for a larger profit, or if the odds are high maybe you are happy to stake less and take a smaller profit. An additional advantage offered by this strategy is the ability to filter out certain players or teams, we call it blacklisting, and this is useful if you have some knowledge of Tennis or Football.
Low Risk
Passive
None
This strategy varies the stake and cashout percentage based on the PBI and creates a separate strategy for each sport. For example, Tennis - PBI below 50: bet half and cashout 60%; PBI 51-79: bet default and cashout 75%; PBI 80-100: bet double and don't cashout. And for Football - PBI below 50: no bet; PBI 50-69: bet default and cashout 65%; PBI 70-100: bet double and cashout 80%.
Low Risk
Active
Some
This strategy has the same settings as the strategy above, however using the blacklist feature you can use your sporting knowledge to disable bets on selected players/teams. For example you may have known that the tennis player Raonic was playing his first match since coming back from injury and may have been a little rusty.
